I said I was going to post about nudity, and was planning to comment about art and the burning life censured statue, when little after the Nipplegate exploded. Another example of paralel development.
So, before starting my own, not Nipplegate related post, I want to show my support by at least linking to it, and I adding it to Fashion World’s feed, too, since the same illness seems to invade places where nipples are simply necesary, like skin ads:- It starts, as I said, with the crude, unrespectfull censoship of a statue, and then indirectly damaging it.
– A little after, I readed about it here, too, and discovered the lame, enraging explanations gived after that decission.
– Then everybody joined the protest, Dalien, dandelion, Vint, Wrath, Nadine Nozaki and the own Burning life Blog.
And yes, I agree with them all… but I whould love to see their, and your nipples in your blogs, as a protest :-)
Now let’s forget about another SL corporate blunder, and talk a bit more about another nudity related items:
1- Rudeness: This one is probably the most important, and the one think people keeps forgetting about. There are little excuses to be rude, except maybe extreme provocation, and it usually only manages to make people angry… here you have an example: Philo-sion-fck-u (fashion related too, btw). Remember, politeness is the oil that greases human relations, and never should be forgotten.
Why I mention it? Because I hate burkas, but if I traveled to Afganistan I whould cover my face. I don’t have the right to break people customs only because I don’t approve them, if I go to their homes (at least, if I previously know before going, there are surprises and surprises). Funny enough, we usually don’t mind other people coming to our homes and break our customs, in the name of tolerance :-p.
Without digressing anymore, that means I don’t have the right to show nipples in certain pages where people can be annoyed, or compromised by the “not safe for work” (NSFW) contents.
So, I love the help that Brandy and Carissa gived me to avoid that kind of situations, and even thank the dry, bordering the rudeness one from smiletenshi, that maked me notice it. And yes, I know there where more than nipples on the post that started it.
2- The line: The main problem of SL, and life in general, is there aren’t clear lines that defines people’s and places’ limits. So all of us draw a line somewhere, and feel disgusted when others cross it. As I said, the post had more than nipples, it has two naked woman cuddling, with a explicit declaration that it wasn’t a sexual actitude… for some people that it is too much, for some is a nipple, for some is public BDSM sex, and for some a naked face.
3- Dirty minds: The problem with nudeness is sad and funny at the same time. We have a four years old daughter, and we don’t refrain to show naked in front of her. We don’t want to teach her that the human body is dirty, but at the same time we need her to understand that there are limits in public… and anyway, I have my limits. I cannot spread to satisfy her natural curiosity, and doing, well, not doing that, I am unvoluntarily infusing the same limits to her.
So yes, I understand the need of cuts for NSFW contents, but when people says… ugh, nipples (or in my case, ugh, nude cuddling)… I can only think the dirt is in the eyes of the beholder.
Of course, there can be hidden IM sex behind it…
4- The fucking sex: For the sake of God… sex isn’t dirty, and isn’t the blisfull communion of two souls. It can be both things, and all the range between (for example, I like a lot the hot, giggling one :-p). It is NATURAL, with it’s ups and downs, and it annoys me to no end when people cringes at the possibility something can be sexual.
Yes, naked cuddles have a deep erotic content, and can conduce to sex, but the good thing at SL is you don’t have to “suffer it”; there is the privacy of IM. Yes, nakedness has an erotic content, too, and usually is a plesure for the eyes… as cuddling is for me. I am happy seeing people loving each other… and I am talking love, not sex, you dirty minded creeps *winks*… and yes, I know that a lot of blisfull times, sex is a way to love.
5- Naked women sells: You can probably wonder why I usually post so many women pictures, and so little of men. Well, first because there are little men around me, and I usually forget to take pictures of anybody, unless when I am in a hurry and then I ask my nearer ones. But women pictures appeal to men, and appeal to women, even in a different way.
SL men have an added problem, to wear or not prim genitalia. It is like the “should I go nude?” problem, notched up a bit. There is only one men I repent not to have a naked picture of, and now it is too late. It is fun, since he had system hair and eyes and the skin was the classic SL over musculated one (but at least the deflated genitalia looked nice and the same tone :-)… but he liked nudity, and there was an aura of quietness and love for life around him… sigh.
So women are easier to find, usually nicer to look at and tolerated by men and women; a winner combination :-)
6- Ok, what was all this around: We have a place at Pandora’s Peace, the Caldarium, where we like people to bath naked, and if they come with their loved ones, dance and cuddle in the same state. I wanted to be clear about the ups and downs of nudity, to ask people’s tolerance, to ask them to think before reacting if the dirt is in them (as I know it is on me for some things) or in what they are beholding.
I felt tempted to add the promised cuddle pictures without the cut line, as an act of protest about the Nipplegate… but I cannot impose my rude views on others, at neast not today, not after what I just wrote. So, if you feel like that, follow the cut and see the last pics of the Caldarium cuddling series, and some reflections about how sometimes the animations and angles carry us to hotter poses that we wanted to.
First, a pair of hugs:
Now, the reversed versions of the previous shower and kneeling cuddles (oh, God, there is pubic hair in one!):
I’ve talked about how I like sometimes, when animations go crazy and you obtain special effects, like this one of Soph seen through Natsumi’s wings, in an unsynched tango:
That means that when you take docens of pictures, is is very easy to end with some that, given the camera position, different avatar heights and a particular freezed moment, look sexually oriented. Here you have a pair of examples, that I whould had never published if the Nipplegate hadn’t made me feel so tired (my mind is dirt, too).
Sexual enough to be a case for the new identity policy, isn’t it? But look at the same pose with different angles, and notice the distance that didn’t showed up, and even the random censuring effect of the particle system:
Still too forward to my liking, at least before discovering the cut option, but definitly, more artistic.
Keep this pictures in mind *winks*, and remember… sometimes, it is in your mind.
“And yes, I agree with them all… but I whould love to see their, and your nipples in your blogs, as a protest :-)”
Been there, done that :-)
*smiles* Yes, I had readed it, but it was so long ago that I had forgotten :-)
London: my “amusement” by this situation is not by the fact that you have to respect traditions, etc, etc. – I totally agree with that. But the statue was not an *avatar* – nor was it a photographic representation of human nor avatar. It was supposedly art. And not a exactly a “spreading” pose either.
So, like I wrote on my blog – if SL evolves into a puritanic witchhunt which considers that seeing naked body *in the art* is “bad” – I am not going to support that with a premium membership.
I would assume that the curators of the RL Louvre and Hermitage are *slightly* more educated in the matters of culture than a random person with an imaginary name. Yet none of the pieces of art I’ve seen have the “nudity parts” covered.
I do respect the rules when they come for the legislative reasons (well, still there might have been easier ways to deal with gambling than just merely banning it, but still). I do even tolerate technical hiccups. I even might shut up about the sloppy customer support experiences – there are always good ones and bad ones, i guess the good ones are just not posting much. But, as can be clearly seen in Wrath’s post – there is no legal ground in this particular occurence.
This is not the “web3.0”. This is “medieval witchhunt 1.0”.
And has nothing to do with my nipples. :-)
Dalien, what is and what isn’t art is a discussion I am not prepared to get into, so I whould simply generalice it to general nippleness and, as you said, wich-hunts.
Anyway, and I simply add a comment to the Nipplegate as a way to show my solidarity, before starting my own, independent post about a theme I had announced yesterday… but yes, your avatar nipples don’t have anything do do with it, I was only kidding :-p
But, with your comment you confirm my theory… it is much harder to get guys to go naked, even in a nipple only way :-)
Can I just be totally shallow and say, those pictures of you two have gotten me *so hot*?
*wants to drag you both off to a cuddle blanket*
London: well, i figured those were two things in one, was just teasing :)
About getting me nipple-naked – it’s up to Vint to decide – ask her :-)
(warning: talk not to be done on PG sim, also you might want to do gun shopping in advance.:)
London, I can not show mine anymore, as I cut the nipples off just to make sure I would not be broadly offending in any way when going to Burning Life.
But about Dalien’s, I’ll try to snapshot them later tonight. =)
Soph, that isn’t being shallow, that is being nice, cute and a bit naughty :-)
Dalien, I forgot to say it before, but I am really impressed by your decision of leaving your premium account. That is the kind of things that, if generaliced, will be noticed by LL. I whould downgrade mine (I’ve always liked saving money, anyway) but I am already a basic user.
And since I am too shy and never use weapons, maybe it whould be a good idea if leave you to ask that kind of questions to her :-)
And Vint, I just got the nipple cutters and will try wear them when I visit Burning Life… but I think I’ll have to get them numb before the operation.
I’ve throwed an informal enquire about it, and until now I’ve been suggested to be throughfully drunk, use ice cubes or ilegal drugs, and some options too naughty to be told here :-p.

Uhm. No. You’re not losing nipplies. They’re too fun to play with. :: Pokes London. Then giggles, and pounces through Soph, barreling them both into London.. and Nat.:: If she gets to take you cuddling, I’m coming with! ::Giggles. Mews.::
Is there a line forming here for naked cuddles? Can I take a number?
So, I am trying to keep this straight… Second Life is already “adults only” with a Teen Grid alternative…
A parent doesn’t have to use a “Net Nanny” application, all they would have to do is have admin right and not allow the installation of Second Life on the home PC.
We already have mature and PG zones…
The rest of the internet is wide open for any minor or prude to stumble over “naughty stuff”…
I understand protecting corporate liability, and I *do* care about what kids see, but Linden Labs seems to be trying to sterilize the community with a painful beaching process. Everything will be very clean and very dead.
My simple take on this problem is that we still live in a Post-Victorian culture, a fairly hypocritical time where sex was “dirty” in the daylight, and open slather in the dark hours.
We are slowly advancing in the western world, especially in Europe, the middle east is going backwards, and Asia can’t make up it’s mind.
The US? well just look at Janet Jacksons “wardrobe malfunction” you must wonder what century most of the country exists in.
How very sad it all is.
I could go on typing away for hours about this, if only I had the time.
Shockwave, we go back to blaming Plato and his cave for all this? (seperate mind and body, etc…?)
Advancing: are you sure?
Dalien’s nipples: he has not been in-world yet, so will have to shoot those tomorrow. Believe me, I find that more sad then you could ever. ;)
Stand aside everyone – naked fae coming through. make a space. coming through.
:)

*pouts* I answered Kat yesterday, saw it published, and now I see I am not here. I whould like to know why the blog keeps eating my comments alive :-(
Kat, is it wonderfull to see you back!!!… and of course I’ll not cut my nipples off :-)
Casius, you are right about it. We never let our daughter to browse alone (of course, being less than four years old makes her dangerous with a mouse on her hand .-p), and one of the best things of Second Life is it was a mature place (more in the next, incoming post).
Faerie and Tim, thanks to both, and more to come in the next post :-)
Well, helping with what i can – sorry for the looks, it’s still kinda all raw up there, in the wild west :) but you got six nipplz rather than two – so hopefully i can be forgiven for compensating by quantity :)

[…] Sep 2nd, 2007 by London Spengler “And yes, I agree with them all… but I whould love to see their, and your nipples in your blogs, as…“ […]
My last comment was meant to be here, my nipples posted.
http://thewintermarket.blogspot.com/2007/08/nadine-meditating.html
I imagine you already noticed I linked to your first picture at this post, but probably you did skip my subsequent explanation about why I did ask for them…
“When I asked for your nipples I asked you to relax, to get another perspective. To laugh.”
As you had said you don’t truly approve on the second picture, and that’s why, even knowing about it, I didn’t list it on the post.
Anyway, thanks for giving it to us, Nadine.
Because the admin of this web page is working, no hesitation very quickly it will be well-known, due to its quality contents.
I think this particular blog , “Naked nipples, dirty minds |
Pandora’s box”, exceptionally entertaining and the blog post was in fact a good read. Many thanks-Janet
First off I would like to say wonderful blog! I had
a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was
interested to find out how you center yourself and clear your mind
before writing. I have had a tough time clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out there.
I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15
minutes tend to be lost simply just trying to figure out
how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Cheers!
Hiya. I noticed your site title, “Naked nipples, dirty minds | Pandora’s box” does not really reflect the content of your site.
When writing your blog title, do you think it’s most beneficial to write it for SEO or for your visitors? This is something I’ve been battling with mainly because I want
good search rankings but at the same time I want the best quality for my website visitors.
I blog quite often and I truly thank you for your information.
This great article has really peaked my interest. I am going to book
mark your site and keep checking for new
details about once a week. I subscribed to your Feed too.
I almost never comment, however i did a few searching and wound up here Naked nipples, dirty minds | Pandora’s box. And I actually do have 2 questions for you if it’s allright.
Could it be simply me or does it look like
some of the responses appear like they are written by brain dead folks?
:-P And, if you are writing at other places, I would like to
keep up with everything fresh you have to post. Would you
make a list of the complete urls of all your shared pages like your
Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
Paragraph writing is also a fun, if you know after that you can write if not it is
difficult to write.
