Lately I did reach a routine: sweet RL days and sweet SL nights, with my RL intruding sometimes into the nights, and my SL intruding sometimes into the days. No drama, or at least not too much, and never too often. Simply living two happy, quiet lives.

And then the holidays came and we went away a long week, far from everything.

And then we came back and I felt very, very lazy about logging in, because it is easier to have only one life.

And then I discovered that, even if  I wanted to log, I couldn’t.

I love to examine my feelings; I wrote many times about why SL may be so good, so bad, so boring, so obsessive, and so so :-p. But never thought about the dangers of my two lives becoming too good and rewarding.

I can’t leave SL, and love is the reason, but love also keeps me away from it now. My days are busy, my nights aren’t mine anymore…  and I would joke about my husband becoming too adhesive in the night if I wasn’t so adhesive in the day.

Of course I can’t tell him why I need to be alone at night, why our old closeness has became too close at some hours. This little holidays somehow shattered our routine, and…

A sweet temptation pulls me away from him in the night, but I can’t obey it, not now, even if it makes my heart ache.

And I hate this temptation, because our sweet life is having an even sweeter moment, and I should simply enjoy it… but it seems that I am more for sweet-and-sour than sugar.

I know that soon things will change back. Just now we are enjoying being a bit too close, but soon we will need our little spaces in the night… we will be back to the old days. We will hug and talk a about what happened in the day, and have dinner, and then he will be back to his work, his corner of the couch where he snuggles to read, or his TV shows.

And we will be happy, and I will be have time for the other half of my heart, so lonely just now.

I will be back to my little, guilty secret, turning the screen so he can’t see who I am hugging. He will wonder again who makes me type so fast, why I smile like a monkey. He will go early to bed, as usual, and I… I will stop writing just now :-p.

Once upon a time Sophrosyne Stenvaag offered me a place at a revolutionary project, called Extropia, and I rejected it. I even said it was a bad idea, since her objective was going to make it a family thing and I think it is very dangerous to  mix love and business.

Now Soph is gone. Was I right? Not at all.

Up to where I know Soph’s live has been meaningful and full of love. In her last post she declares that the absence of part of her SL family is an important side of her decision, but we know the wear and tear of SL and, again up to where I know, they had less ups and downs that most of us, and their work only strengthened their relation.

We drifted away long ago (my fault, as usual) so now I am not really losing any contact with her. Now Extropia is a reality, a thriving community, I am not sad I didn’t join it. Let’s admit it, I stink at communities.

But she was a comunnity builder and, even if her vision stays, our lives become a bit smaller without her. Of course, that saddens me.

She bows away with some lines from The Tempest, which leave us wondering if we should hope her a sweet sleep, or stand and clap for an encore.

Last months I have grow accustomed to have lots of free time in the morning, and coming back from holidays has been a shock. Busy the whole day, tired at night. I still feel the same “pressure” to write posts, mails and comments, but there is almost no free time, or the intimacy to do it; talk about a writer’s block :-p

Checking the archives, I know that I managed to blog actively the last two summers so, what did change?

My RL has always been good, but now is more rich; a new career, a closer relation with my husband, a children that has become older and more demanding (but in a nice way :-).

Also, my body betrays me and I can’t overstay too often; I can’t live the SL nights as I used to do.

Having Euro-time SL friends is a huge change, too. I used to have free time around midnight, but now is the best time I have to socialise, and so the blog will suffer.

I know I am not the only one having this kind of problem, but maybe I am the only one that didn’t see it coming *smiles*; I came back the Sunday and it took me two days of waiting to realise I wasn’t going to have much free time in the whole summer :-p

So? Nothing dramatic. I will keep posting and commenting, but not often, not until the end of September… and anyway, I am sure you will be busy with your own summers, isn’t it? ;-)

First it came the holiday’s mood, and I didn’t find much time to post.

Now it is holiday’s time so, sorry, no more post until July :-p

… I am so lazy and it is so fun to sidetrack myself :-p.

I have been thinking about writing this post for a long time, because I am afraid people tends to mistake the true nature of love (and I mean romantic, erotic love),  believing it gives you some kind of rights, when the truth is it denies them.

It doesn’t matter how much you love somebody, you have no right to be loved in the same way

Chance is with me on this one, it is almost impossible to match love “levels”. While it is true that loving unconditionally tends to get a positive answer (we could even talk about love feedback),  isn’t right is to feel annoyed because you aren’t loved as much as yo do. Love can’t be forced… and don’t get me started about desire ;-p

You have no right to ask for fairness in love

When the one you love so much loves somebody else in the same way, asking “Why not me?” only causes pain; it would be nice if things where fair, but hearts can’t be controlled.

We can also find a classic unfairness example at poliamory, where trying to find equal time for each relation is an utopia. Trying too hard may even be harmful, since you can’t easily enjoy a time you would like to be spending with somebody else, and that may end poisoning things.

You have no right to ask love to be selfless

Love wants and wants and wants. It craves for time, attention, caresses, words. Oh, it can wait, and contain itself; SL love can be a very intensive exercise in self control, trying not to make a mess of our RL and virtual agendas… but at the end, what you we are doing is trying to ride a selfish beast.

You can’t ask love to last forever

To me this is the ugliest no-right. I am almost pathologically good at lasting relations, and so I hate to admit that love may dwindle and die, but the truth is that sometimes it does. Sometimes because it has been stretched up to breaking point, sometimes without an obvious motive, it dies.

If we are lucky, death of passionate love gives way to quiet, tender love, that can burn forever; that is my favorite relation. If we aren’t we stay there, broken and alone.

So, we really don’t get any rights?

Love may give you all what has been mentioned above and much more. Love may be wonderful, unconditional, unselfish, eternal… but it gives no rights. Those come from our inner moral sense and the way we face relationships, that are built not only in love, but care, shared experiences, tender moments, close minds, and friendship.

Love is intrinsically wild; taming and nurturing it makes us human.
